SMcN Consulting was retained to provide mechanical design services for a boiler plant upgrade at School District 83’s J.L. Jackson Secondary School in beautiful Salmon Arm, BC.
This project was carried out during the fall of 2020 as an emergency replacement project. The school experienced a prolonged power outage last winter and boiler room piping and equipment were compromised by sub-freezing conditions.
The project scope included replacing four old 1000 MBH boilers and single-speed circulation pumps with ten 399 MBH high-efficiency condensing boilers and variable speed pumps. The new system will significantly reduce the heating system’s natural gas and electricity consumption.
Carrying out a project such as this as we entered the heating season was challenging. A big thank you to SD 83 and Ram Mechanical for the completion of this successful project.
